Multi-city initiative focused on improving cardiac arrest survival.
Our community's initiative to improve survival.
-Specialized approach and training for 911 responders and hospitals
-Specialized equipment and protocols for ambulances and first responders
-Increase bystander CPR rates
-Early CPR makes the biggest difference in survival.
-Our community's answer to increasing bystander CPR.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
-Take Heart Austin :
-Recruits community organizations and groups interested in implementing TAKE10
-Creates and shares the program and supporting materials
-Selects TAKE10 trainer facilitators
-TAKE10 trainer facilitators teach others to be TAKE10 trainers
-TAKE10 trainers teach TAKE10 learners in the community
-TAKE10 learners are able and willing to begin CPR when needed
TAKE10 is a 10 minute, 3-step, hands-on training that provides practice for giving compressions and the confidence to act in an emergency.
1. CHECK: For signs of life (responsiveness, normal breathing)
2. CALL: Call 911
3. COMPRESS: Hard and fast, center of chest...
when a teen or adult is found in sudden cardiac arrest.
ULTIMATE GOAL? Improve survival throughout our communities
How? 1 out of every 2 people will know & have confidence in CPR by 2022 by:
1. Dramatically increasing the # of people who know & have confidence performing CPR
Why? Bystander CPR can double or triple survival
2. Increasing rates of bystander CPR (home & public)
Why? Bystander CPR remains low in most communities & most cardiac arrests occur where people live
3. Community involvement
Why? People like YOU in the community can begin CPR quickly. We can't meet these goals without you
